CollegeNET, Inc. is a Portland, Oregon-based, privately held company providing web-based on-demand technologies to help colleges, universities, and non-profits save money, improve operational efficiency, and enhance communication. We currently serve over 1200 higher education and non-profit institutions world-wide.
CollegeNET.com is an online forum where students can get together to discuss issues that are important to them, whether they're serious (e.g. topics such as abortion), or not-so-serious (high school pranks). Students vote on which of their peers are leading the most interesting conversations. By the end of the voting cycle, the students with the most votes get scholarship money. CollegeNET wanted to provide students with an alternative to the traditional long-form college essay, and give them a chance to diplomatically handle the scholarship award process themselves.
