Matt McIlwain, director, Madrona Venture Group
Madrona is an early-stage venture capital firm focused on building
leading technology companies. Started in 1995, the firm has established
a national reputation of partnering with entrepreneurs, investors and
advisors to create value together. The firm invests predominately in
seed and Series A rounds across the information technology spectrum
including software, Internet, wireless and infrastructure. Madrona

Brent R. Frei, co-founder and chairman
Brent Frei is the executive chairman and co-founder of Smartsheet.com.
Before joining Smartsheet.com on a full-time basis, Brent was the
executive vice president of Intellectual Ventures. In this role, he
focused on a variety of projects relating to intellectual property
including, invention, licensing and legislative issues.
Before joining Intellectual Ventures, Brent was CEO of
Onyx Software Corp., a Bellevue-based customer relationship management
(CRM) software company he co-founded in 1994. In his 10 years as Onyx CEO,
Brent oversaw the generation of $600 million in direct revenue. During
his tenure, Onyx received a consistent top 5 ranking amongst CRM vendors
worldwide, and the number one ranking for customer service by
independent customer satisfaction surveys. He was recognized and
credited for his pioneering work in the field of CRM software
and services, including in 2001, at the age of 33, the Smithsonian
Institute recognized Brent as a "Pioneer in Technology." Ernst and
Young named him a 1997 “Entrepreneur of the Year.” In 2001, he was the
sole recipient of Dartmouth College's Thayer School of Engineering
Fletcher Award for lifetime achievement – the youngest recipient ever
selected for this award.
Prior to co-founding Onyx, Brent was a programmer analyst with
Microsoft Corporation and a mechanical engineer at Motorola
Corporation. Brent received his bachelor's degree in engineering from
Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering, and his BA in engineering
sciences from Dartmouth College.
Mark P. Mader, CEO
Mark Mader is the CEO of Smartsheet.com.
An expert in collaborative productivity, Mark is co-author of the
forthcoming book, The Productivity Paradox, and has spoken at
conferences throughout the United States.
Before joining Smartsheet.com, Mark was at Onyx Software
Corporation, where he served as senior vice president of global
services, leading the professional services and software maintenance
groups. Mark joined Onyx in 1995 as one of the early members of the
team. In addition to overseeing service operations in the Americas,
Europe, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Australia, Mark was a director of
Onyx KK, Onyx's joint venture in Japan.
Prior to Onyx, he worked at Greenwich Associates as an associate
focusing on European financial markets.
Mark graduated from Dartmouth College in 1992.
John Creason, chief technology officer
John Creason is the chief technology officer of Smartsheet.com where
he oversees all software development and hosting operations. In
addition, he directs all activities related to the company's long term
technology strategy and software architecture. John is a pioneer in
hosted software solutions. John served as director of development at
Concur Technologies during the company's transition from an on-premise
software provider to an on-demand business service. Prior to Concur,
John served as director of development at Captura Software (later
acquired by Concur) where he lead the development of the first fully
hosted corporate expense management system. John is an active member of
the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) community and
recently agreed to chair a task force on AJAX security.
Eric Browne, vice president of product management
Eric Browne is the vice president of product management for
Smartsheet.com. Prior to Smartsheet.com, Eric was at Onyx Software
Corporation, where he led the vertical marketing and alliance teams.
Eric managed several of the Fortune 1000 accounts, focusing on
financial services firms. In addition, he established the original
business development team, creating a profitable network of 50
companies including IBM, Microsoft,
Accenture and Compaq. Prior to Onyx, he worked in Accenture's Strategy
Consulting Group focusing on Fortune 500 clients. Eric graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts in Engineering from Dartmouth College and an MBA from UC Berkely’s Haas School of Business.
Maria Colacurcio, vice president of marketing
Maria Colacurcio is the vice president of marketing for
Smartsheet.com. Before joining Smartsheet.com, Maria was at Microsoft
Corporation where she developed marketing campaigns for the 2005 launch
of Visual Studio and SQL Server. Prior to
Microsoft, she managed all prospect and customer marketing initiatives
for Onyx Software Corporation. Prior to Onyx, Maria led the marketing
team at NetReality, a Bay area firm which was acquired by Allot
Communications. During her tenure, she launched international marketing
operations as well as key branding and advertising initiatives. Maria
graduated from Whitworth College with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
