Saber Seven, the developers of Dorthy.com, a new search engine that focuses on people's dreams, has raised $4 million in total funding from various angel investors.  The startup said it received investments from The Coyne Group back in 2007 and 2008.

Currently in private alpha mode, Dorthy provides its users with content to "do your dreams."  Bascially it's a search engine specializing in providing results for people's goals.

COO and founder Jordan English-Gross explains it on Dorthy's blog that the site, "reverses the traditional search process, continuously filtering and focusing the universe of online content, to connect you to the best stuff around your interest and aspirations."  Results are displayed differently than Google would display, which is a list of Web sites, instead, Dorthy displays information on a single page which evolves over time based on how that user progresses (based on what they are searching) to achieve their dream.

To make things more relevant to what we are used to on the social Web, Gross also said the site is, "incorporating social features like following other’s dreams and resource sharing," a sort of user-enhanced search.

Along with announcing Dorthy's upcoming public launch, Saber Seven appointed Will Burrington as EVP of public affairs for the site.  He previously was a former senior executive at AOL.

The company isn't your typical couple of guys working on a product, instead it's made up of almost twenty employees based out of New York.  With the funding, Dorthy plans to grow in order to continue development on its product, which is slated for public launch in the next couple of months.  If you're interesting in giving it a try, you can sign up on the site for a private alpha pass.
