YouNoodle, started in March 2007 by two Oxford University grads - Kirill Makharinsky and Bob Goodson - hopes to automate part of the process of predicting a successful startup by analyzing the people or the team behind an idea. To that end, it's not a surprise that Kirill's main piece of advice is to get the right team on board. His other piece of advice that is definitely something many people don't understand is that the startup environment is fluid. Once a roadmap is in place, get ready to throw that out the door. it's constant adjustment and change. A startup CEO environment is like whitewater river rafting. The CEO is the guide. There are a lot of little adjustments (rocks) to avoid and get around. As Kirill put it, "Realize things will change."

Great post. I really like your white water rafting analogy. Unfortunately too many startup CEOs don't get that they're on a raft in dangerous and rapid waters and and instead think of themselves as riverboat captains cruising down the stream with a party going on in the galley ;-)
