Christoper Heldman is a first-time entrepreneur. But it appears he's off to a great start with his company, Crispy Gamer, one of the largest independent game media companies providing news for serious gamers.

Here's Heldman's advice:

"Don't be in a hurry," he said. "Build your business over time."

Heldman said he learned this entrepreneurial virtue because he didn't have patience. "We rushed our product to market," he said. "If we waited and launched our product later, we wouldn't have to do things twice."

Heldman also suggests that entrepreneurs keep it simple.

"When you go out to raise money, less is more," he said. "Trying to condense everything down to 10 or 12 points was much more digestible by a venture capitalist than just going out and trying to give your whole business pitch."

Thirdly, "you don't have to hire all at once." Particularly, in these times, hire after you need them.
