Prodigy video on PandoraToday, Pandora announced that the Internet radio service would now be featuring music videos on its site. Every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, new official studio-produced videos will appear on the site.

Clicking on one of the artists loads a video page titled “Pandora Video Series: In the Studio,” with a simple video player playing the video after a quick splash donning Pandora’s logo. Users can comment on each video and, at the end of each video, the service will play the next video according to alphabetical sequence by artist name.

The new video series is launching today with 24 artists, including Animal Collective, Datarock, and The Prodigy. While the series obviously can’t match the breadth of Pandora’s current radio service, this might be a sign that Pandora could be looking to enter the video niche more seriously in the future.

Pandora says that the series is focusing on artist-produced music videos, not concert recordings or any user-generated content of the kind you’ll find endlessly on YouTube. In the blog post announcing the new project, Pandora made a call to any artists, bands, and labels looking to get their videos seen.

So, instead of licensing content from distributors, Pandora is simply posting a detailed submission form on the site’s FAQ section, for any parties interested in the site hosting their videos.
