I'm one of the founders of TribalG, which dates back to 1994. I worked with Internet projects from 1994 to 1999, but just couldn't see immediate revenue models. I was enlightened to the potential of mobile services in 1998; in particular the revenue chain, peculiar to mobile, and have been a zealot ever since.
TribalG joins users, brands, communities and content together in a monetised mobile environment. The focus on the mobile revenue chain has made this a profitable venture. We created a number of very early intiatives:
- First Mobile Social network 1999
- First mobile marketing campaign 2000
- First International, inter comnected, SMSchat service 2001
- First high volume TV / SMS interative campaign 2001
In recent times our work has involved pulling this mobile and non-mobile universe together and digging deep to establish how it relates to the real life of users, the needs of brands, and our need to generate revenue. Today TG is a highly evolved hosted SAAS platform that includes; social networking, messaging and content management across multiple media types, mobile marketing, and billing systems. We've served over 3 billion WAP pages in the last 5 years, but that's just the beginning.
Prior to TribalG I did a few varied things: was an Account Director for a large Systems Integrator, was the General Manager of a publicly listed property deveopment and construction company; and designed a few buildings. I have never let go of my background as an engineer and I like to think it positively influences our systems design. I'm also a Director and seed investor in an Innovative engineering company, which has staggering IP, sits in the green tech sector, has well protected IP, and which we hope will one day change the world. If we don't change the world, at least we tried.
