•
first a search engine for every subject was googles threat. but nothing ever emerged. now a social network for every subject is Facebooks and Googles biggest threat. I know a 10 year old entrepreneur that's been pioneering the principles of combining social and search since day one. bambi's heard of him too but wont write about him. i wonder why? I like the addition of the MyVator tab much more personal and cool. if you dont have a personalized/custom offering nobody will adopt. adoption is king, and the nicer you look the more users will adopt. its not about software/apps anymore, everyone is giving their stuff away. its about Vertical Niche Location Based Social. may the best branded homer mobile win.

 • currently experiencing the greatest techtonic shift in mobile/online innovation and FG is scared? maybe because the investments they're standing on are so vulnerable to this disruption. when your scared its because you dont have the right people/investments/vision. randomness is ridiculous. mobile/internet innovation caused the luck to run out for vc's, now its all about skill. easier to predict the future when your creating it.

 • Appreciate the honesty about being lucky. The chance to have someone you know and trust bring a thunder lizard startup to your front door is astronomical. Luck is diminishing on the web/mobile and skill will eventually forever assume its rightful place whether your from silcon valley or the canary islands. LBS will not be played out on facebook or twitter. Location based services will be played out by a 100% pure social commerce LBS startup that utilizes a standardized open api of "places" . A location based standard has yet to be set and the door is wide open.

 • a friend of a friend to bring a vc a game changing startup is like waiting to get hit by lightning. this may explain why the valley is full of funded garbage startups and their failure rate is as high as 80%. you need a "broad view" and "open mind" as to where tech is going and postition your investments to capitalize on the ever changing landscape. keeping windows of opportunity closed and waiting for a friend to knock on your door with a game changer startup is wishful thinking.
