Taptu, Chegg, BlueKai and Overlay.tv are among the companies raising funds

Here's a list of some companies in the consumer Internet, digital media, advertising, and mobile sectors that raised money in the last week.  

Icera Inc. raised $70 million from Atlas Ventures, Balderton Capital, Accel Partners, Amadeus Capital Partners, according to a press release. The Bristol, UK-based company is  a wireless soft modem company.Founded in 2002, developed the world's first market proven, high performance soft modem technology for mobile broadband phone and data devices.

 

 

Roundbox, Inc. raised $20 million from Core Capital Partners, Polaris Venture Partners, and RRE Ventures, according to a press release. The  Florham Park, New Jersey-based company is a leader in mobile broadcast software. Roundbox is focused on providing users with great software, services, and infrastructure to deliver "mobile broadcast" applications.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pixim Inc. raised $13 million from Mayfield Fund, Ridgewood Capital, and Tallwood Venture Capital, according to a press release. The Mountain View, California-based company is a maker of digital sensor chips for security cameras.

 


NetShelter  raised $11.1 from GrowthWorks, Rho Canada and JLA Ventures, according to Click-Z. The Toronto-based company is a vertical ad network that develops branded marketing campaigns across a network of 150 niche Web sites.

 

 

BlueKai raised $10.5 million from Battery Ventures and Redpoint Ventures, according to a press release. The Bellevue, Washington-based company operates an online exchange of data relevant to advertising buyers.

 

Image Metrics raised $6.5 million from Saffron Hill Ventures, according to a press release. The Santa Monica, California-based company is the leading provider of facial animation solutions for the entertainment industry.

 

 Overlay.TV raised $4.6 million from Celtic House Venture Partners, Tech Capital Partners and EdgeStone Capital Partners, according to a press release.The Ottawa, Canadian-based company is an interactive video platform that customizes online video by layering on additional content.

 

Taptu raised $10 million from 3i and Sofinnova, according to paidContent. The UK-based startup is  a developer of a search engine for mobile devices..

 

 

 

Chegg raised $25 million from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Foundation Capital, Gabriel Venture Partners, and Primera Capital. The Santa Clara,Cali-based company is known to be the Netflix of textbooks.

 

 

 

 

Dotblu raised $2 million from Maples Investment and D.E. Shaw, according to PE Hub.The San Franciso, California-based start up is an online social network that is dedicated to friendly competitive online gaming.

 

 

 

  


 SellMyTimeshareNOW.com raised $8.5 million from Edison Venture Fund, according to PE Hub. The Dover, New Hampshire-based start up is an online secondary marketplace for timeshares. The site provides advertising tools and services to assist owners with the sale or rental of their timeshare.
